Gerrit shows Prison Director list of gifts coming

I had a joyous time visiting the 600 prisoners here, bringing them news that we are able to begin their sewing school with 25 new machines, all the materials, and a paid professional trainer for 6 months. An anonymous donation has made this possible.

The ladies remembered that I taught them in March that God loves them, that he has not forgotten them, and that he has a hope and a future for them. So they praised God in dance and song and as usual I joined right in.

Needless to say, the Director of the prison was also elated. In the photo I am handing over the list with all the machines and materials they will be getting. Big smiles from both of us.

The next big project is to start an English literacy course at the request of the women. We will soon post the proposal online to ask for your partnership with us.

Early on Monday I’m going to Kimonyi Village to do graduation of the second group of women trained to use sewing machines; I’ll be able to tell them that the new electric finishing/embroidery machine will be delivered in a few days and a trainer will teach them for 6 months as well. We have also employed an English literacy teacher and will provide materials for their classes.
